We would like to thank the learning leaders and L&D professional who joined our recent webinar in collaboration with Corporate Learning Network: "Leveraging Active Learning to Strengthen Business Outcomes." 🌐💼 This engaging session, facilitated by our very own Nisha Abraham, tackled the common challenges of passive virtual learning and provided actionable insights to enhance engagement and retention. Key takeaways included:
🔹 The pitfalls of distraction and multitasking and how to combat them. 🔹 The importance of company culture in adopting active learning practices. 🔹 Setting clear expectations and demonstrating the benefits of active participation. 🔹Using “check-outs” to re-connect participants at the end of a session. 🔹Leveraging “whisper courses” to gently nudge managers by suggesting a quick action to take in the flow of work.
Our expert panelists, Kimberly Kilby, CPLP and Christina Holloway, MS, CPTD, shared their insightful thoughts and emphasized the importance of designing sessions that maximize cognitive engagement. They also highlighted the value of moving from passive to active learning, even in small steps. Over 70% of attendees indicated they did not have the engagement metrics they needed to measure the effectiveness of their training programs. They then contributed to a lively brainstorming session and shared insights in a collaborative whiteboard, focusing on innovative ways to measure and improve learner engagement. We enjoyed the high levels of #Engagement and active participation around the Engageli tables! Thanks again to everyone who joined and contributed to this session. Your enthusiasm and ideas will undoubtedly drive better business outcomes through active learning. Stay tuned for more insights and future events! #ActiveLearning #VirtualWorkshop #EngagedLearning #BusinessOutcomes #Engageli #CLN

Our deepest gratitude 🙏 to more than 100 global learning leaders who attended #EngageLIVE this week. In collaboration with People Untapped and The LPI (Learning and Performance Institute), we explored the pivotal challenges of making and measuring learning impact amidst the rapid advancements of #GenAI. The expert CEO panel including Helen Hambleton and Edmund Monk, facilitated by Talia Kolodny, led to thoughtful insights. But this session was far from a presentation. It was a collaborative journey driven by the active participation of every attendee. A link to experience the session asynchronously will be added in the comments. ✨Key Takeaways✨ * 🎯Set Strategic Objectives: “Start with the end in mind”: define clear goals to craft impactful metrics aligned with broader business strategy. * 🧠The Power of Active Learning and meaningful metrics: Engageli’s impact study reveals that active learning boosts engagement 10X over traditional lecture. There is a true need for intentional technology and new ways to measure learning. * ⌛Beyond Convenience: It is commonly expected of learning leaders to generate results with quick learning solutions. But learning takes time, and effort. * 💪The golden hour for Learning Leaders: With 88% dissatisfaction with current tools for measuring impact amongst the event attendees, it is clear something needs to change. A significant portion of the session focused on group discussions and crowdsourced strategies for engagement and impact. The synergy of thought and shared experiences at the event exemplifies how collective intelligence can lead to groundbreaking innovations.
Follow Engageli to experience this session asynchronously and receive a detailed re-cap of the takeaways!

This year's CLO Exchange in Nashville, organized by the Corporate Learning Network was buzzing with innovative ideas, and the Engageli team is right at the heart of it! The thoughtful session led by Nisha Abraham and Shaqueta Pierre Gadson enabled a vital conversation about measuring the impact of learning in the workplace throughout the conference. 🔍 One insightful takeaway was the concept of "Return on Expectations," which complements the traditional #ROI. This approach acknowledges that impact isn't always quantifiable by numbers alone. Sometimes you use a "tape measure" 📏 , but sometimes it's a "mood ring" 💍 , as you track the shift in sentiment, engagement, and interaction. Luckily, we now have better ways to measure those "softer" aspects of learning! 📸 A hot topic was the debate around camera usage during remote sessions. We discussed how engagement metrics need to evolve beyond visual cues to truly measure participation. This shift recognizes that comfort and engagement go hand-in-hand, and it's essential to foster an environment where everyone can thrive. 🧠 The closing keynote on fostering emotional intelligence across organizations resonated with our session's themes, even earning a shoutout! It was thrilling to see those insights being echoed and appreciated by the panelists and attendees alike. 👥 We're proud to have sparked meaningful discussions that are shaping the future of learning and engagement. Let's continue this conversation—how do you measure learning impact in your organization? Nisha Abraham, Shaqueta Pierre Gadson, Andreina Parisi-Amon, Andy Jones, Alon Nachmias - thank you for being there and bringing back insights! #CLOExchange #LearningAndDevelopment #EmployeeEngagement #ProfessionalGrowth #EngagedLearning #Engageli #MeasuringImpact #ROIofLearning #CorporateTraining #AIforLearning #SEL

Have you ever walked into a classroom with a paper bag on your head?... 🤔 🛍 Thanks for these insights Helen Hambleton! 🧠

Helping organisations and teams unlock their potential through learning. Leadership Development | Training | Coaching | Talent Development

This is a real bug-bear of mine. If we met in a meeting or training room, we'd all be able to see each other - to read non-verbal clues, to be both physically and mentally present to what was being discussed. Not switching your camera on is like walking into a room with a paper bag over your head. People use a plethora of excuses not to switch on, but the reality in most cases is that they want to have the option to 'multi-task' aka 'not engage fully' (sorry to break this to you, but I can't usually see through a screen if you are wearing make-up or not, and I also don't care!). If we want learning from training to stick, delegates actively choosing to engage and setting expectations of that from the start is key. And then we can make sure we use a virtual classroom platform that mirrors a physical room as much as possible. It's why we have started using Engageli for live virtual learning sessions and why we insist on 'cameras on' and design sessions for engagement. If you want to see what I'm talking about, join me on 8th May at 5p.m. for a webinar jointly with the The LPI (Learning and Performance Institute) and Engageli talking about measuring impact of learning (another favourite topic of mine)... but do please switch your camera on!! Senior Director at Engageli | Ex-Coursera | Ex-Khan Academy | Learning Leader

“Learning is not something you tag on to your job - it is your job”. Well said by Simon Lambert, CLO at Microsoft in yesterday’s Learning Networks event hosted by LinkedIn London and the The LPI (Learning and Performance Institute). It was a thoughtful discussion where burning questions were explored collaboratively with leading experts like the three you can see in the photo: Anne-Marie Griffin, Dr Ashwin Mehta and Simon Lambert. Here are some of my key takeaways: 💫 From service providers to thought partners: Learning leaders now have a unique opportunity to become strategic thought partners to carve out the pathway for business transformation. 💫 The skills discourse is shifting: as AI is starting to replace tasks (not jobs), we can move away from a title-focused workplace to one focused on matching tasks with skills and tools. 💫 AI literacy is key: It is obvious that AI literacy will be required, but varying levels of proficiency will be needed in different roles - from basic prompting to disrupting industries. 💫 Learning provides purpose: 80% of employees in the LinkedIn Workforce Report indicated that learning connects them with the organization and gives them a sense of purpose. 💫 Engage your organization: Leveraging #AI for learning does not conclude with your IT team. The entire organization, from leadership to individual employee need to actively learn these skills, and the only way to learn them is to use the tools. A great example given was the Promt-a-thon coming from Microsoft, as well as an AI chatbot that coaches you on effective prompting by scoring the quality of your prompts. If you're interested to dive deeper into similar topics, you are personally invited to Engageli's upcoming event in collaboration with the LPI and People Untapped to discuss the challenge of measuring the true impact of learning. This was well phrased by Simon Kear and Jenny McWalter from Nord Anglia Education yesterday - measuring what you value rather than valuing what you measure.
